Joint Civic Education program was
executed by German NGOs – MitOst
Association and CRISP and Georgian – Iris Group-Managing Diversity. The
program was funded by Civic Conflict Resolution (Zivik) of the Institute For
Foreign Cultural Relations with the funds from the German Federal Foreign
Office and Robert Bosch Stiftung.
The mission of
Joint Civic Education is promoting Active Citizenship Education in Armenia,
Azerbaijan and Georgia; Qualifying young professionals in Civic Education,
Building a network among non-governmental and non-profit organizations in the
South Caucasus; Fostering empowerment and credibility of Civil Society. The
visit aimed to competence in project management, organizational development and
initiate cooperation.

The first part
of this program – Introduction Seminar was launched with 24 participants from
Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia from 17th July to 24th
July, 2011 in Bakuriani, Georgia. The participants represent 22 different NGOs
with a broad variety of focuses, like youth, IDPs, minorities, human rights and
non-formal education. They understood the concept of civil society from the
simulation game, developed project management, presentation and conflict
management skills. As a final result of the seminar, the participants discussed
the target groups, aims and projects of their NGOs to find an adequate partner
for performing the inter-regional internships. With their partners, they
developed concrete cooperation plans, which they wanted to start implementing
during the at least one-week internships between August and November.
The most important round of the program was doing the internships at the hosting NGOs to exchange future projects’ ideas, experience and knowledge. The interns and hosts initiated their future cooperation.

The reflecting
seminar was launched on November 21-26 in Tbilisi, Georgia where there
directors of NGOs were also invited. Fellows of the program and their directors
discussed and presented the project ideas they are going to implement together.
On 24th of November, there was held closing ceremony of Joint Civic Education program in Ambasadori Hotel Georgia. The Alumni were awarded with certificates and congratulated successful participation by Dr. Silke Klöver, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy in Georgia and representing “zivik”.

The program has finished but this is not all. On 11th of November were held Georgian alumni meeting. They choose local coordinator, discussed how to work on online platform for alumni Caucasus and how to set up regional MitOst organization.
We hope to participate in Joint Civic Education program will meet expectations of “Young Leaders’ Club’’ about implementing new projects and exchange ideas with our new partners.
